To Be Held: Child Of Prometheus
Oil on canvas, 30cm x 40cm.
To Be Held: Child of Prometheus draws from the ancient Greek myth of Prometheus, who shaped humanity from clay and gifted it with life. The small, foetal figure rests in an open hand, emphasising the fragility and vulnerability inherent in creation.
Formed from earth, the body exists in a suspended state between becoming and returning, echoing the cyclical nature of life and death. The gesture of holding suggests both protection and impermanence, reminding us that to be alive is to be temporary; shaped by forces beyond our control.
