Nyx: Mother of Darkness

Oil on canvas, 30cm x 40cm.

A quiet, yet potent, power in darkness. Without it, can there be light? From chaos/nothingness came Nyx, a primordial deity and goddess of the night. Through this painting I wanted to explore the idea that darkness is essential, not evil. It is a necessary part of existence.

With her cloak of darkness comes a prescribed time of stillness; a time where one is able to rest and recuperate. A cyclical reset.
