Between Tides (Blue Phase)
Oil on canvas, 25cm x 45cm.
Transitional phases can feel awkward and uncomfortable; figuring out what serves us as individuals and what does not. Though the feelings confronted in these phases can be difficult, figuring these things out is an essential component to personal growth and evolution of self.
Through this painting I wished to capture the idea of someone hitting rock bottom in order to gather the pieces and rebuild something stronger. I thought a lot about how we cower from negative feelings, particularly when they continue for a significant period of time, and how refusing to acknowledge them can stunt emotional growth.
